List of SDMX Web services
« on: October 20, 2011, 11:37:50 PM »

I have just been in a meeting in the TWG and found out that yet another SDMX webservice was available. This time it was INEGI in Mexico that have introduced a service with a Restfull interface. It is diffcult to know where these services are available and how and what interface they introduce. I think it is time that we have one place where we can find information about these services. I know what the optimized way of doing it would be. That is of course a registry, but for now that would take to long time. I went to the tools registry and marked the ckeckbox "Web services" but not one of the results was a SDMX webservice. I think the tools registry would be a good place to registrate the webservices for now with the url and perhaps a short description and if possible more specific documentation. I think this would have som interest for a lot of people.

For now i know that there are these PUBLIC SDMX web services:

  • OECD (Soap and an early version of the 2.1 Restful interace)
  • IMF (Soap and an early version of the 2.1 Restful interace)
  • ECB (SOAP and Restful interface)
  • INEGI (Early version of the 2.1 Restful interface)
  • OTHERS? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ?
I think, but not sure, that EUROSTAT and BIS have some SDMX Web services that soon wil be public?

Any opions on this suggestion?

FAO Fisheries has currently this SDMX 2.1 REST API with SDMX 2.0 messages:
FAO will publish this year also:

Yes, it would be good to have this list. Using the tools registry would be good. There is however a bit of confusion because the way I interpret tools/features is that it is software to implement SDMX, not a running and published webservice. If the tools/features are used for both (SDMX software and SDMX content), it is probably the best place (until the registry of registries is implemented).

Dear Erik,

I absolutely agree with you about the confusion of the tools resgistry and SDMX webservices, although they are a tool for getting data without installing more than a client on your pc.

It could also be specific page like the tools registry with a link from, but that would probably also take some time to implement.

I think I will let this topic be commented for the next 14 days and then make a request at the secretariat for a kind of implementation. :D
